Like all NSW public schools, we promote the healthy development of students through:

  • school programs and practices that protect and promote health and safety
  • supporting individual students who need help with health issues
  • providing first aid and temporary care of students who become unwell or who have an accident at school.

Student wellbeing

Like all NSW public schools, we provide safe learning and teaching environments to encourage healthy, happy, successful and productive students.

The department is committed to creating quality learning opportunities for children and young people. These opportunities support wellbeing through positive and respectful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging to the school and community.

The Wellbeing Framework for Schools helps schools support the cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development of students and allows them to connect, succeed and thrive throughout their education.

All Year 6 students at Berridale Public School take on the role of student leaders. There are four main roles and responsibilities for the Leadership Team:

 

  1. COMMUNITY - raise the flag before school, lower the flag at the end of the school day, and attend to the flag appropriately on special occasions. Ensure Crossing flags are out before school and returned to the School Office after school. Welcome and thank special guests and visitors to our school.
  2. SPORT - maintain clean and organised arrangement of the Sports Shed, control the borrowing of equipment during lunch and afternoon tea sessions, ensure that all equipment is returned neatly to the Sports Shed, set up and pack away equipment required for Daily Fitness and Sport activities.
  3. ENVIRONMENT - maintain clean and organised arrangement in the Garden Shed, control the use of gardening tools and equipment, supervise any watering or maintenance of the gardens within the school grounds, monitor rubbish within the school grounds and ensure the bins are accessible by all students, ensure that the Recycling is deposited at the front of the school for collection on the appropriate day.
  4. COMMUNICATION - conduct the fortnightly Whole School Assembly, ensure that messages are relayed to the appropriate students and/or staff within the school, contribute to the School Newsletter/Website.
